                  What is The CGMA FLP

The CGMA FLP is part of an all-inclusive subscription package and is delivered online in a self-paced digital environment. It teaches the same competencies as other routes to the CIMA Professional Qualification, only that students do not take Objective Tests; they only sit for the case study exam.

                  WHY CGMA FLP?

The CGMA FLP has everything you need to study the CGMA Professional Qualification: all your learning, assessment, and Case Study exam preparation takes place within the platform, and your subscription includes your CIMA registration and membership, exam entry, and a full Case Study Review Course.

You will work through three levels, with your knowledge put to the test via continuous assessment rather than sitting Objective tests. It means there are fewer exams on the CGMA FLP compared with other pathways.

At the end of each level, you will sit the same Case Study exam as all other CGMA candidates to test your mastery of business concepts and ability to apply your knowledge and skills in real-world scenarios.

Even though SAIPA is an IFAC qualification, it doesnt allow you to start at Strategic level. You start FLP from the Management Learning Level.

You start FLP from the Operational Learning Level, unlike the traditional route where you start at Management Case Study Exam. Any qualification in business allows you to start at Operational Learning Level and Finance/Accounting Qualification allows you to start at Management Learning level.

You will maintain all progress you have made as a CIMA Student, as outlined here:

                  • If objectives tests have been passed, you will receive credit for the corresponding competency area learning and assessment. This means you will not be required to re-take the learning or assessment in competency areas where you have already proven your proficiency via Objective Test.

                  • If case study exams have been passed, you will receive credit for them in the CGMA FLP and will not be required to re-take them.

                  • No credit is given for learning taken with other providers, as it did not include the necessary assessment that is embedded in the CGMA FLP.

No - You are required to clear all CertBA exams and gain the CertBA Certification for you to be able to register for the CGMA FLP.

No - You are required to clear all CertBA exams and gain the CertBA Certification for you to be able to register for the CGMA FLP if you need exemptions. Should you not clear any CertBA you will be required to start CGMA from the Foundational Level and complete all 3 Competencies under the Foundational level.

There are no exemptions granted at the FLP Foundations Level!

Yes - you need to complete and pass all your competencies at least 2 weeks before the Case Study Exam Booking window.

You can book the case study exam anytime but if you do not complete your competencies before the exam deadline booking window, your exam will auto-cancel because you would have not completed all competencies. Ensure you complete your competencies at least 2 weeks before the case study exam deadline. Access the CIMA Exam Timetable here.

Yes - you take the same case study exams as the traditional route under the 4 exam sittings. Booking deadlines are also same.

Yes - you get awards just like the traditional route.

No - you can cancel booked OT exams and get a refund to your payment method before you transfer to CGMA FLP.

Yes, you can join FLP with a part qualification of a Professional Qualification under IFAC.

No - under FLP IFAC Professional Body Members start at Strategic Learning Level, they need to complete the 3 Competencies before the Strategic Case Study. SAICA members can take the Strategic Case Study Exam Only if they join via the CIMA-to-SAICA Pathway Membership taken via the CIMA South Africa Office.

Yes - The programme is entirely self-directed, so you can complete it at whatever pace you prefer. If you have ample time to dedicate to completing the learning and prepping for exams, it’s possible to complete multiple levels in a year. Typically, a learning level takes around 100–150 hours to complete and case study preparation takes an additional 50–75 hours.
